The governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Hon. Adebayo Simon Adewale, has withdrawn from Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State and declared his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Adewale announced his decision at a press conference on Thursday, where he urged members of the APM and his supporters across the state to mobilise and vote for Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, in the election.
According to him, the decision was a conscious choice to place the collective interest of Osun State above personal political ambition.
The development comes just two days before the election, adding a fresh dimension to the contest as candidates and political parties intensify their final mobilisation efforts across the state.
Adewale’s endorsement is expected to boost Adeleke’s campaign as supporters of the APM candidate are urged to transfer their support to the incumbent governor at the polls on Saturday.
