Former Imo State Governor and ex-Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Okorocha was reportedly arrested on Monday night, October 12, 2026, at REIZ Continental Hotel in central Abuja, according to media reports.
The police subsequently released the former governor on bail after about an hour of interrogation, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed to Channels Television.
The police reportedly asked Okorocha to return to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday for further questioning as investigations into the allegations continue.
His arrest reportedly followed his failure to honour previous police invitations concerning the ongoing investigation. He was initially invited to appear at the Force Headquarters on September 2, but the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his lawyers. He reportedly failed to attend on the rescheduled date.
The development comes amid controversy surrounding disputed documents relating to the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Imo West, where Okorocha has challenged the recognition of Governor Hope Uzodimma as the party’s candidate.
