The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff following the resignation of his predecessor, Segun Ogunwuyi.
The appointment was announced on Monday, October 12, 2026, shortly after Ogunwuyi’s resignation from the position took effect on the same day.
Ogunwuyi reportedly tendered his resignation without disclosing a specific reason in his resignation letter, bringing his tenure as Chief of Staff to an end.
Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission. His appointment places him in a key administrative position within the governor’s office, where he is expected to support the coordination of government activities and the implementation of the administration’s policies.
In a related development, Governor Makinde approved the appointment of Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office. She will, however, retain her existing position as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.
The letters conveying the appointments were signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
The appointments come amid changes within the governor’s administration following Ogunwuyi’s departure from the Chief of Staff position.
