Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, was reportedly in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurated the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election in Abuja.

Oyetola’s trip to Ghana was focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Ghana on fisheries governance, sustainable fisheries management and efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

His engagement in Ghana coincided with the inauguration of the campaign council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Under the revised campaign council structure, Oyetola was appointed Deputy National Coordinator I for Stakeholders’ Mobilisation in the South-West, a role that places him among the officials assigned responsibilities for mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Although reports indicated that Oyetola was in Ghana on the day of the inauguration, no official statement was identified confirming whether his international engagement was the reason for his absence from the Abuja ceremony.
