Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken a pointed swipe at Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, over his previous comments about Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dancing.
Davido made the remark during the “VOTE, NOT FIGHT” campaign held at Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo, ahead of the August 15 Osun State Governorship Election.
Addressing Okpebholo, Davido said: “Mr. Monday Okpebholo, you don see small money, your voice no dey shake again… Is dancing a crime?”
The comment was seen as a deliberate response to Okpebholo’s earlier remarks about Governor Adeleke, particularly his repeated references to the Osun governor’s dancing.
Davido, who is the nephew of Governor Adeleke, appeared to turn the criticism back on the Edo governor, questioning why dancing should be used as a basis for attacking the Osun governor.
The remark drew reactions from attendees at the campaign, with Davido using the moment to reinforce the broader message of peaceful political participation ahead of the election.
The VOTE, NOT FIGHT campaign is aimed at encouraging voters, particularly young people, to reject electoral violence and exercise their civic rights peacefully through the ballot.
