President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries following the discovery of another alleged fake government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed this on Friday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the ICPC chairman, the commission uncovered an entity operating as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, allegedly without presidential authorisation.
The agency was reportedly operating from an office within the OSGF premises, raising concerns over how an unauthorised organisation gained access to government facilities.
Aliyu said investigations identified Nwabueze as a key figure behind the operation, with the suspect allegedly using different variations of his name while conducting the activities of the purported agency.
Following the briefing, President Tinubu directed the immediate arrest of Nwabueze and ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries linked to the matter.
The affected officials were identified as M.S. Danjuma, Engr. Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The ICPC said the discovery formed part of its wider investigation into alleged irregularities involving government agencies and offices operating within the federal public service.
The commission stated that investigations are ongoing and that additional actions may follow as investigators uncover more details.
