ABUJA, Nigeria — The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The court, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, struck out the charge on Monday, October 12, 2026, following an application by the Federal Government to discontinue the proceedings and arraign the defendant afresh before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file and identified legal issues with the original charge.
According to the prosecution, the alleged forgery offences involved documents that fell within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.
Oyedepo informed the court that fresh charges had already been filed before the FCT High Court and that Adeyemi would be arraigned again without delay. He subsequently asked the court to strike out the existing charge to pave the way for the new proceedings.

The charges against Adeyemi bordered on alleged conspiracy, forgery, fraud and impersonation in connection with his purported role as the head of the PFIPC, an organisation the Presidency had publicly disowned.
In a statement issued in June 2026, the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President said the purported council did not exist under the Tinubu administration and that no appointment had been made through the office in that regard. Source: State House
The striking out of the charge at the Federal High Court does not mean Adeyemi has been acquitted of the allegations. The Federal Government says it has filed a fresh case at the FCT High Court, where he is expected to face a new arraignment.
The fresh proceedings are expected to determine the allegations against him in the appropriate court.
