President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the re-elected Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, to use his second term to expand his reach, promote peace and foster unity and stability across the state.
Tinubu gave the advice when Governor Adeleke visited him at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, to present his Certificate of Return following his victory in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
The President, while congratulating Adeleke on his re-election, told the governor that the best way to appreciate the people of Osun State was not merely through celebrations or words, but through actions and effective leadership.
“Expand your coast. That is the only way you can give thanks to Osun people, not the way you sang it or celebrated it, it is the way you act it,” Tinubu told Adeleke.
The President also used his own political journey to remind the governor of the importance of humility and divine providence in leadership.
“Use me as an example. I got here because God put me here, so also you are where you are because God put you there. It is not the smartness of your supporters; it is just their support, but the wish of God that prevails and the wish of the people follows,” he said.
Tinubu further charged Adeleke to recognise the unique opportunity before him and use his second term to leave a lasting legacy in Osun State.
“You are in a very unique position to make history. Promote peace, unity and stability,” the President said.
Adeleke, who secured a second term in office after winning the August 15 governorship election, was formally issued his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the declaration of the election results.
His visit to the Presidential Villa was part of his post-election engagements following his victory.
The meeting also underscores the need for cooperation between the Federal Government and the Osun State Government as Adeleke begins his second term in office.
