LAGOS — The family of late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked reports circulating on social media that his daughter, Shakirat “Kira” Taiwo, recently welcomed a baby boy.
The report, which was accompanied by a video and photographs circulating online, claimed that Kira had given birth shortly after the death and burial of her father. The viral post described the newborn as “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy,” prompting congratulatory messages from some social media users.
However, Haleemah “Lima” Taiwo, another daughter of the late actor, dismissed the claim in a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday. She urged members of the public to disregard the report, stressing that the information was false.
According to her, the family had received several calls and messages from concerned friends and relatives seeking clarification over the claim. She therefore appealed to the public to stop sharing unverified information about the family, particularly at a time when they are mourning their father.
The family also appealed for privacy and understanding as they continue to grieve the death of Ogogo, who passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer. He was buried the following day in Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The latest clarification is the family's second public effort in recent weeks to correct misinformation surrounding the actor and his family, underscoring the need for social media users to verify celebrity-related claims before sharing them.
