The Lagos State Government has formally presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to Prince Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, officially recognising him as His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, the Onise of Ise Kingdom in the Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The presentation took place on Friday, August 21, 2026, and was carried out by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa.

The ceremony was held with the approval of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Executive Council following the passing of the former Onise of Ise Kingdom, the late Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Agbaje congratulated the new monarch and urged him to make peace, unity and inclusive development the guiding principles of his reign.

He emphasised the importance of traditional institutions in promoting peace, stability and grassroots development, urging Oba Saliu to extend a hand of fellowship to members of the various royal families.

According to him, the new monarch’s reign should be characterised by reconciliation, cooperation and collective progress for the people of Ise Kingdom.

Agbaje expressed confidence that Oba Saliu would use his experience, wisdom and position to promote the peace and prosperity of the kingdom.

Earlier, Mrs. Bolarinwa welcomed royal fathers and other dignitaries to the occasion and expressed appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for approving the presentation.

She said the gesture demonstrated the state government’s commitment to strengthening the traditional institution and advancing grassroots development across Lagos State.

The presentation of the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment formally marks the commencement of the reign of Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu as the Onise of Ise Kingdom.

The monarch is expected to build on the traditional institution’s role in fostering peace, unity and development within Ise Kingdom and its wider community.
