OSOGBO – In a firm stance against the rising tide of political unrest, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace, declaring a policy of zero tolerance for violence ahead of the state’s upcoming gubernatorial elections.
The Governor’s declaration follows recent high-level security engagements in the state, aimed at curbing incidents of brigandage and political thuggery that have threatened the stability of the region.Governor Adeleke issued a direct and uncompromising directive to the police leadership to apprehend any individual found culpable of inciting trouble, regardless of their status or political affiliations.
Osun Deserves Peace
During the meeting, Governor Adeleke emphasized the necessity of impartial policing, urging the security agencies to prioritize the safety of all citizens over partisan interests.
"Even if it is my son that is causing trouble, arrest him. All I want is peace in my state and not bias policing. Osun deserves peace," the Governor stated, in the meeting held in the his office today.
The Governor’s remarks underscore a growing tension in the state as the August 15, 2026, governorship poll approaches. While recent police interventions—including the deployment of a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) to the state—have been welcomed by the administration as a step toward restoring order, the Governor continues to call for a more consistent and professional approach to law enforcement to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
Security Architecture in Focus
The recent security atmosphere in Osun State has been marked by a blend of diplomatic cooperation and public calls for systemic reform. Governor Adeleke has consistently expressed his administration’s confidence in the federal security leadership, including the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu, to maintain the integrity of the state’s security architecture.
Beyond conventional police operations, the state government has been proactive in strengthening regional security, notably through the recruitment of over 1,500 personnel into the Amotekun Corps to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force.
As the state moves closer to the August 15 election date, the "Infinite Pulse News" team will continue to monitor the situation closely as the police work to restore public confidence and ensure the safety of all residents.
