The Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Ossai Success, has offered a young United Bank for Africa (UBA) staff member ₦500,000 in cash support and an ambassadorial role following the backlash she received after addressing the bank’s chairman, Tony Elumelu, by his first name.

Ossai announced the offer in a Facebook post on Saturday, saying he was concerned about the level of criticism directed at the woman after the incident went viral.

According to him, the support package includes ₦500,000 cash, flight tickets to Asaba, five-star hotel accommodation and a guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State.

He also offered the woman VIP access to the fourth edition of the Delta Social Media Summit, scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park in Asaba.

Beyond the financial support and invitation, Ossai offered her a brand ambassador role for the Delta Social Media Summit, describing it as an annual platform.

Explaining his decision, the governor’s aide said the woman had made a mistake but should not be subjected to prolonged online harassment.

“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real, and words cut deep,” Ossai said, while calling for support rather than continued condemnation.

He also thanked Elumelu for drawing attention to what he described as the need for greater respect in society.

The offer comes amid widespread online reactions to the incident involving the UBA staff member, who attracted criticism after addressing Elumelu, the bank’s chairman, by his first name.

Ossai’s intervention has consequently shifted attention from the controversy to the support and opportunities being offered to the young employee following the backlash.
