The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Onipede Ojo, for allegedly stealing a police officer's bag containing official and personal items and subsequently using them to impersonate a police officer.

According to the police, the stolen bag contained a camouflage uniform, a warrant card, a mobile phone, an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card, and other personal belongings belonging to the officer.

Investigations revealed that after stealing the items, Ojo allegedly used the police uniform and warrant card to pose as a serving police officer, an act that raised concerns over public safety and security.

The suspect was apprehended following intelligence-led operations by officers of the Lagos State Police Command. Authorities recovered some of the stolen items during the arrest and have commenced further investigations into the incident.

Police authorities reiterated their commitment to combating criminal activities and warned members of the public against impersonating law enforcement officers, noting that such offences carry severe legal consequences.

The Command assured residents that the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

The arrest underscores ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Police Command to safeguard public trust in law enforcement institutions and prevent the misuse of official police materials by unauthorized individuals.
