OSOGBO – As the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) visits Osun State, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has formally requested a high-level investigation into a series of unresolved homicides and called for the immediate redeployment of the current Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan.
In a press statement issued on July 3, 2026, and signed by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., the TICC expressed deep concern over the state of security management, arguing that public confidence in law enforcement has been severely eroded.
Demands for Investigation and Accountability
The council alleged that the current leadership of the Osun State Police Command has failed to act on numerous petitions regarding political violence, creating a perception that security institutions are being "weaponized" for political contests.
The TICC specifically urged the IGP to investigate several high-profile figures and alleged instances of violence:
- Bola Oyebamiji: The council called for the invitation of the APC gubernatorial candidate over the killing of Kolade Eluyera, a PDP party agent in Ikire.
- Hon. Wole Oke: The TICC urged an investigation into the lawmaker regarding the alleged killing of Aderogba Ajayi in Esa-oke, purportedly masterminded by his Personal Assistant, Omo Aje.
- Remi Omowaiye: The council requested an investigation into the killings of Ismaila Ibrahim and Kasali Adebayo during the February 17, 2025, takeover of the Ilesa West local government secretariat.
Notorious Suspects: The TICC demanded the immediate arrest of Kazeem Oyewale (popularly known as Asiri Eniba) and his accomplices—Agboola Ṣogo, Azeez Tajudeen (Ketu), Suleiman Adebare (Couple), Oyinlola Muideen (Agbara), Ayọdeji Jide, Makinde, and Azeez Mecho—for their alleged roles in the deaths of Oladimeji Taiwo and Oloyede Damilare.
Allegations of Prior Political Violence
The TICC statement detailed a history of violence leading up to and following the February 2025 incidents. The council cited the deaths of several citizens, including Aderemi Abideen Abiodun, Aderonbi Abass, Ganiyu Gele, and a vulcanizer named Wole in Ife, as part of a "campaign of terror" linked to political actors. Furthermore, the council listed several individuals killed during the forceful takeover of local government secretariats, including Damilare Oloyede, Oyebamiji Taiwo, Abdullahi Olawale Akanfe, and Bakare Toheeb.
Call for Neutral Policing
Citing "growing erosion of public confidence" in Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan, the TICC argued that his redeployment is essential to restore trust ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
"Confidence in law enforcement is indispensable to peaceful elections, political stability and effective crime fighting," the statement read. The council concluded by urging its supporters to remain law-abiding and committed to peaceful political engagement as the election date approaches.
