The lawyer representing controversial entertainer and social media personality DJ Chicken has appealed to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to forgive his client following his reported arrest over alleged defamatory comments.
In a video circulating on social media, the lawyer claimed that DJ Chicken was arrested in Ikeja, Lagos, and is currently in the custody of security authorities.
"DJ Chicken is now with the authorities. He was arrested at Ikeja. He's now at Ikeja Police Headquarters, but I'm very sure it is the DSS," the lawyer said.
According to him, the arrest is linked to statements allegedly made by the entertainer about Seyi Tinubu.
"The issue is because of the statement he made some days ago about the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu," he added.
The lawyer made an emotional appeal to supporters and individuals with access to the Presidency to intervene and help secure his client's release.
"Please, fans and well-wishers, people that like Chicken, people that are close to the Presidency, please help us to beg. We earnestly beg the President and the son of the President, please forgive Chicken," he said.
He further suggested that DJ Chicken has mental health challenges, stating that his client requires support and understanding.
"He's not okay like that. We are just managing him. In fact, Chicken is my personal project. I just picked interest in him," the lawyer claimed.
Acknowledging that his client had erred, the lawyer said, "He has made mistakes, but we are pleading for forgiveness. Everyone I know who is close to Seyi Tinubu, I will start calling them now just for us to beg. They should please forgive him. We will do everything."
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Department of State Services (DSS) had officially confirmed the lawyer's claims regarding DJ Chicken's arrest or detention.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged defamatory remarks and any possible charges against the entertainer remain unclear.
