The Spokesperson Of The Imole Campaign Council and also the fagbearer of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has alleged that members of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council were counting on local government funds to finance their election campaign activities.

Olajengbesi made the claim in a post published on his Facebook page on Thursday, where he expressed concern over what he described as reports reaching him from Abuja regarding the party's campaign financing expectations.

According to him, some members of the APC Campaign Council were allegedly distressed over the unavailability of local government funds they had hoped to utilize for campaign purposes.

"What a shame," Olajengbesi wrote.

"Reports reaching me now indicate that members of the Osun APC Campaign Council are crying in Abuja that they were relying on Local Government funds for election campaign."

The lawyer argued that the alleged development raises important questions about accountability and the proper understanding of public office.

"This raises serious questions about Osun APC's understanding of public office and democratic accountability," he stated.

Olajengbesi further maintained that electioneering activities should be financed through lawful political channels rather than public resources intended for the welfare and development of citizens.

"Elections should be funded through lawful political processes, not with resources that belong to the people of Osun State," he added.

The allegation comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State chapter of the APC had not responded to the claims made by Olajengbesi, and no independent evidence had been provided to substantiate the allegation.

Observers note that campaign financing and the use of public resources during elections remain critical issues in Nigeria's democratic process, often attracting scrutiny from political stakeholders and civil society groups.
