The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed profound gratitude to the people of the state following his re-election victory in the 2026 governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his administration's development agenda.

In a statement issued after being declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oyebanji said the overwhelming support he received across the state reflected the collective desire of Ekiti people for continuity, stability and sustained development.

The governor noted that the election result, which saw him secure victory in all 16 local government areas of the state and an estimated 85 per cent of the popular vote, demonstrated the confidence reposed in his leadership by residents.

"The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear," Oyebanji stated.

He described the scale of the victory as humbling, stressing that the mandate would inspire his administration to deepen its commitment to good governance and improved service delivery.

According to him, voters from urban centres and rural communities alike spoke with one voice in support of continuous development and a future filled with opportunities for all residents.

The governor emphasized that the election was not about winners and losers but about a united Ekiti working together for progress and prosperity.

"There are no winners or losers today; there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility," he said.

Oyebanji pledged to honour the trust placed in him by the electorate by continuing to lead with humility, dedication and fairness throughout his second term in office.

He also assured residents that his administration would work harder to ensure that the benefits of governance reach every household across the state.

The governor concluded by thanking the people of Ekiti for their support and for what he described as a historic electoral mandate.

"Thank you, Ekiti Kete, for making history with us," he added.
