The Osun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into a viral social media video that raised concerns about a residential building in the Ibuaje Community of Osogbo, following claims made by a woman identified as Mrs. Ajibola Yetunde Aramide.

According to the Police Command, the video, which circulated on TikTok through the handle @MrsAramideYetty, showed Mrs. Aramide knocking on the gate of a building located on Oluwatosin Alabi Street, Odofin Estate, Ibuaje Community. In the video, she claimed that she had not seen the owner of the property for a long period and alleged that she felt compelled by what she described as spiritual prompting to check on the occupants.

The woman also recorded and shared footage of the compound and its surroundings, expressing concerns about the whereabouts of the property's owner. In a separate video, she reportedly alleged that some residents who built houses in the Abere-Sise area had not been seen for an extended period, while calling on the Commissioner of Police and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the matter.

Reacting swiftly to the development, the Osun State Police Command said it deployed officers to the location to verify the claims. The police subsequently identified the occupants of the building, who were found to be the owner's wife and a tenant.

The Command also invited community leaders, including the Chairman and Secretary of the Abere-Sise Community, as well as a representative of the traditional ruler, to assist with the investigation. According to the police, the community representatives confirmed that Mrs. Aramide and her husband reside within the community and stated that there had been no reported incident or suspicious activity of the nature alleged in the viral videos.

Preliminary findings by investigators revealed that Mrs. Aramide resides in the Abere-Sise Community, while the building featured in the video is located in the Ibuaje area. The Police further disclosed that after realizing the implications of her actions, Mrs. Aramide removed the videos from social media and publicly apologized to both the owner of the property and members of the public.

The Command noted that the unauthorized recording and publication of private property may raise concerns under privacy laws and relevant provisions of the Cybercrimes Act, adding that a full investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Commissioner of Police in the state urged residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear, assuring the public that the matter is being thoroughly investigated. The Command also appealed to residents of Ibuaje Community and surrounding areas who may have useful information to assist the investigation by coming forward.

The Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring that information capable of causing panic or misinformation is properly verified before being circulated on social media platforms.
