The Osun State Government has reaffirmed that Comrade Wakeel Nurudeen Alowonle remains the duly recognised Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, dismissing claims that Governor Ademola Adeleke dissolved the union's leadership.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the government clarified that the suspension of NURTW activities across motor parks in Osun was solely a security measure and did not affect the union's leadership structure.

According to the statement, Alowonle and his executives were appointed by the national leadership of the NURTW under Comrade Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), and their appointments remain valid.

The government explained that some individuals allegedly led by Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, had misrepresented the outcome of Thursday's State Security Council meeting by claiming that the governor had dissolved the Alowonle-led executive and created a vacuum for the inauguration of a caretaker committee.

Describing the claim as false, the government stressed that the directive from the Security Council only suspended NURTW operations in motor parks pending the restoration of peace and order.

It further reiterated that Governor Adeleke never ordered the closure of motor parks but only directed that union activities be temporarily halted to prevent further security breaches.

The state maintained that the Alowonle-led executive remains the only leadership recognised by both the national leadership of the NURTW and the Osun State Government.

The government also directed security agencies to remove Asiri Eniba and his supporters from motor parks across the state, insisting they have no legal authority to operate there.

It assured residents that normal NURTW activities under Alowonle's leadership would resume once security had been fully restored in the affected motor parks.
