Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have reportedly faulted the party’s leadership over its performance in the just-concluded governorship election, advising the party against challenging the outcome in court.

The position was conveyed in what appeared to be leaked audio recordings purportedly featuring APC members discussing the party’s performance and the factors they believed contributed to its defeat.

In the audio tapes, the members were heard expressing concerns over the manner in which the party managed its internal affairs ahead of the election, while urging its leadership to focus on rebuilding the party rather than pursuing litigation over the election result.

Among the issues raised was the alleged sidelining of some factions and stakeholders within the party. The members reportedly argued that the failure to accommodate different interests weakened the party’s internal cohesion and affected its ability to mobilise effectively for the election.

They also criticised the alleged disqualification or exclusion of some party members whom they described as strong political forces, arguing that such actions undermined efforts at reconciliation and deprived the party of valuable support ahead of the poll.

According to the members, unresolved internal disagreements, lack of broad-based reconciliation and perceived exclusion of key stakeholders contributed to the party’s poor showing at the election.

They therefore advised the APC leadership to accept the election outcome, learn from the experience and embark on genuine reconciliation among aggrieved members and factions.

The members reportedly maintained that challenging the result in court may not address the underlying problems within the party, stressing that internal restructuring and unity should take priority.

The development comes amid ongoing discussions within the Osun APC over the party’s performance in the governorship election and the way forward ahead of future electoral contests.
