OSOGBO, OSUN STATE - The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, 13 days after the result was officially announced.

Oyebamiji made the remarks on Saturday in Osogbo while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters on the outcome of the election and the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The former Commissioner for Finance congratulated Adeleke on his victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while urging the governor to prioritise the protection of lives and property across the state.

Oyebamiji also condemned reported cases of post-election violence, killings, harassment and intimidation of APC members and other residents in parts of the state.

He called on the governor, as the state’s Chief Security Officer, to use his constitutional powers to restore peace and ensure the safety of all residents, irrespective of political affiliation.

“In the spirit of democracy and as we commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of our dear Osun State, I congratulate His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, on his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission,” Oyebamiji said.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support before, during and after the election, while acknowledging the contributions of former Governor Bisi Akande and former Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, to the APC in the state.

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner after securing 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes.

The governor’s victory gave him a second term in office, with a winning margin of 66,252 votes.

Oyebamiji’s congratulatory message came 13 days after the official announcement of the election result, signalling his acknowledgement of Adeleke’s victory while also raising concerns over developments in the aftermath of the poll.
