Operatives of the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands have arrested 88 suspects, rescued five kidnapped victims and neutralised four suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation codenamed "Operation Kosaye" ("No Chance").

The operation, which involved extensive bush-combing exercises across Ogun and Lagos states up to the boundary with Oyo State, was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts and improve security in the region.

Speaking during a media briefing at the Police Training School in Iperu, the Commissioners of Police for Ogun and Lagos states said the exercise resulted in the arrest of 84 suspects during the joint bush-combing operation, comprising 75 males and nine females. In addition, four suspected kidnappers were arrested following a gun battle with security operatives, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to 88.

The police also confirmed that five victims abducted near the Ogbere Forest along the J4 corridor of the Sagamu–Benin Expressway were rescued unharmed within about 25 hours of the operation. Four suspected kidnappers were killed during an exchange of gunfire with the joint security team, while investigations and manhunt for other fleeing members of the criminal gang are ongoing.

According to the police, the success of Operation Kosaye was achieved through intelligence-led policing, collaboration between the two state commands and the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to intensify operations against kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes.

The police reassured residents of Ogun, Lagos and neighbouring states of their commitment to sustaining coordinated operations aimed at denying criminal elements safe havens and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
