The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested a 32-year-old man, Adetokunbo Adeshina, over his alleged involvement in phone-based extortion and threats against unsuspecting Nigerians.

According to the NSCDC, the suspect allegedly carried out a series of fraudulent phone calls in which he intimidated victims and demanded money using threats and false claims.

The arrest followed intelligence-driven investigations launched after several complaints were received from members of the public.

Security officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the suspect's activities and identify possible accomplices or additional victims.

The NSCDC has advised Nigerians to be cautious of suspicious phone calls, avoid sending money to unknown individuals, and promptly report any extortion attempts to the appropriate security agencies.

The suspect will be arraigned in court after investigations are completed.
