IBADAN – The murder trial of former Park Management System (PMS) disciplinary committee chairman, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as "Auxiliary," has hit another procedural snag. On Thursday, the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan ordered an adjournment of the case until July 15, 2026.
The postponement was necessitated by the prosecution’s failure to file the essential trial documents required to proceed with the adoption of the final written address.
Lamidi stands accused of murder in connection with the death of Wonuola Ayinde. According to the prosecution’s case, Ayinde was fatally struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by the defendant on September 23, 2023, within the GRA area of Agodi, Ibadan.
Since the commencement of the legal proceedings, the defendant has maintained a plea of not guilty. The latest delay adds further tension to the high-profile case, which has been closely monitored by the public due to Lamidi’s former prominent role in the state’s transport management system.
With the prosecution currently unable to fulfill its filing obligations, the court has granted the delay, pushing the resolution of this stage of the trial into the coming week. All parties are expected to return on July 15 as the state government seeks to move forward with its arguments.
