ABUJA — The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), the official campaign organization for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over an alleged viral video capturing Senator Francis Ade Fadahunsi inciting violence against members of the Accord party ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State Governorship Election.
In the petition dated August 12, 2026, and signed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., TICC drew the attention of the police chief to remarks attributed to the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District.
The Alleged Threats
According to the petition, Senator Fadahunsi was allegedly seen and heard making inflammatory remarks:
"From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too. This is a Federal Government election. On election day, even if they come with voters' card, we wont allow them to vote."
The campaign council noted that the remarks, if authenticated, far exceed regular campaign rhetoric, presenting a direct danger to public safety, voter franchise, and human life in the state, particularly within Ilesa and the Osun East Senatorial District.
Reliefs Sought
TICC has urged the Inspector-General of Police to take immediate action, outlining several key demands:
- Comprehensive Investigation: Order an immediate, thorough, and forensic investigation to authenticate the viral video and establish its context.
- Invitation and Questioning: Invite Senator Fadahunsi to respond to the allegations.
- Security Deployment: Immediately deploy adequate security personnel to safeguard lives, protect voters, and secure polling units and strategic locations ahead of the August 15 election.
- Legal Action: Arrest and prosecute Senator Fadahunsi and any culpable individuals should the investigation establish reasonable grounds of an offense.
The campaign council stressed that the petition is brought in the interest of public peace and to ensure that political office does not translate to immunity from criminal investigation.
