Four people have reportedly died while nine others were hospitalised after consuming a meal prepared from cassava flour in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.


The incident, which has triggered concern among residents, was reported by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), which said the victims became ill after consuming the cassava-flour meal.


According to reports, the four deceased persons were members of the same family. The nine other victims were reportedly taken to hospital for medical attention following the incident.


The Kogi State Government has ordered an immediate investigation into the deaths to establish what caused the victims to fall ill and determine whether the cassava-based meal was responsible.


Authorities are expected to conduct further medical and food-safety assessments as part of the investigation.
