The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers and logistics suppliers linked to criminal gangs operating within the FCT and neighboring states, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and restore security across the territory.
The suspects — Bello Abdullahi, Shuaibu Iliya, Idris Abubakar, and Misbahu Isa — were apprehended on July 5, 2026, during a coordinated clearance operation targeting criminal hideouts in remote communities across Kwali, Abaji, and Kuje Area Councils.
According to the FCT Police Command, the operation was conducted by a combined security team led by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which successfully dislodged suspected kidnappers from their hideouts and caves located within the Nago Forest in Kuje Area Council.
Police investigations revealed that one of the suspects, Misbahu Isa, allegedly played a key role in supplying ammunition to kidnappers and bandits operating across Niger, Kaduna, and Kogi states. Following his arrest, he reportedly led operatives to Zuba Motor Park, where officers recovered 42 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition concealed inside his Volkswagen Golf vehicle, which he allegedly used for commercial transportation activities.
The police further disclosed that preliminary investigations linked Isa to the supply of over 20,000 rounds of live ammunition to wanted bandits and kidnappers. He was said to have received ₦3 million for the transactions.
During the operation, security operatives recovered several exhibits believed to be connected to criminal activities. Items recovered include multiple bottles of codeine-based syrups, Tramadol tablets and capsules, suspected cannabis sativa, a magazine loaded with live ammunition, a mobile phone, assorted clothing, and ₦170,000 cash.
Other items recovered from the suspects include:
42 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition
One magazine loaded with six rounds of live ammunition
Several bottles of codeine and cough syrups
125 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa
Tramadol tablets and capsules
A bunch of fresh leaves suspected to be cannabis
One Tecno mobile phone
One torchlight
A National Identity slip belonging to one Sani Umar
A bag containing assorted clothing
Cash sum of ₦170,000
The FCT Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network, while efforts continue to dismantle kidnapping and arms trafficking syndicates operating within and around the Federal Capital Territory.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding residents and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in combating crime.
