ABUJA — The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly detained Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, the President of the Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA), following a series of high-profile media appearances.  

​Kaigama’s arrest comes on the heels of explosive statements made during recent television and radio interviews—including appearances on major platforms like Channels Television—where he alleged deep-seated high-level complicity in Nigeria's ongoing security crisis.

​The Catalyst Interviews

​In his recent media rounds, Kaigama pulled no punches regarding the state of insurgency and banditry in the country. Most notably, he asserted that certain top political actors, governors, and senators are directly profiting from kidnappings and running lucrative networks tied to insecurity.  

​He famously claimed, "If I bring out some evidence, the whole of Nigeria would shake," threatening to expose high-ranking officials and financial conduits fueling terror groups like Boko Haram. The youth leader had also recently engaged in public altercations and accusations with prominent lawmakers regarding ransom negotiations and security failures in Borno State.

​The detention marks a dramatic escalation in the tensions between state authorities and independent activists commenting on anti-terror operations. Kaigama, who gained prominence following advocacy surrounding the rescue and release of hundreds of abducted women and children from insurgent enclaves in southern Borno, has increasingly turned his criticism toward the political class, accusing them of suppression and active cover-ups.
