Sixteen-year-old Osasere Okundaye has made history by becoming Nigeria's youngest chartered accountant after successfully qualifying through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a feat that has earned her nationwide recognition and praise.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, congratulated the teenage prodigy in a statement issued on Monday, describing her achievement as an extraordinary demonstration of hard work, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

"I heartily congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her outstanding achievement of becoming Nigeria's youngest Chartered Accountant at just 16 years of age. This remarkable milestone is a testament to the power of hard work, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence," the minister said.

Olawande described Okundaye as a shining example of the immense potential of Nigerian youths, noting that her accomplishment should inspire young people across the country to pursue excellence regardless of age or circumstance.

According to the minister, the teenager's success demonstrates that with determination, dedication and the right support system, young Nigerians can break barriers, set new records and make meaningful contributions to national development.

He also commended her parents, family, teachers and mentors for the encouragement, sacrifices and guidance that contributed to her remarkable journey.

"I also congratulate her parents, family, teachers, mentors and everyone who has supported and guided her journey. Their encouragement, sacrifices and belief in her abilities have undoubtedly contributed to this exceptional success," Olawande added.

The minister reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development's commitment to implementing programmes and policies that empower young Nigerians to realise their full potential.

He expressed optimism that Okundaye's achievement reinforces confidence in Nigeria's future and wished her greater success in her academic and professional career.

Osasere earned the historic feat after completing the rigorous professional examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), becoming the youngest person ever to obtain the prestigious qualification in the country.

Her achievement surpasses the previous national record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who qualified as Nigeria's youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17.

The ICAN professional qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria's most demanding professional certifications, typically attained by university graduates and working professionals after several years of intensive study and examinations.

Okundaye's accomplishment has been widely celebrated as a testament to the exceptional talent, determination and limitless potential of Nigeria's younger generation.
