Scores of residents across Osun State have expressed frustration after discovering that their names were missing from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), despite completing voter registration updates.

 

The affected residents said they had either applied for a transfer of their polling unit, requested replacement cards after damaging or defacing their previous PVCs, or made corrections to their voter records during INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

 

However, when the commission released the list of eligible voters for PVC collection, many claimed they could not find their details, leaving them uncertain about their voting status ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

 

Reports gathered by our correspondent indicate that the issue is not limited to a single community but has been reported in several parts of Osun State. Many voters who successfully applied to change their polling units also said their names could not be found on the PVC collection list. Similarly, a number of newly registered voters claimed they were unable to locate their names, raising concerns about the completeness and accuracy of the register.

 

Some of the affected residents described the development as disappointing, saying they complied with INEC’s guidelines and expected to receive their new, transferred, or replacement voter cards without difficulty.

 

Several residents appealed to the electoral commission to urgently investigate the complaints and provide clarification, warning that the situation could disenfranchise thousands of eligible voters if not resolved before the election.

 

They also urged INEC to verify its records, address any technical or administrative errors, and ensure that all qualified applicants—including those who registered for the first time, transferred their polling units, or applied for replacement PVCs—are included in the final PVC collection list.

 

As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State office of INEC had yet to issue an official statement addressing the complaints.
