The Nigeria Police Force has approved the deployment of 14,000 personnel to various Local Government Areas (LGAs) across Osun State ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
A Police Wireless Message from the NIGPOL DOPS, Abuja, dated August 10, 2026, shows that personnel from various state commands and police formations have been allocated to different LGAs to provide security during the election.
According to the document, Iwo LGA will receive the highest deployment of 1,000 personnel, while Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North and Ife South will each receive 750 personnel.
Other major deployments include Ayedaade (600), Ede North (600), Ede South (600), Ifelodun (600), Ilesa East (600), Ilesa West (600), Irepodun (600) and Irewole (600).
Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West are allocated 330 and 320 personnel respectively, while Ejigbo and Olaoluwa will receive 550 and 250 personnel.
The deployment involves personnel drawn from several police commands and formations, including the Kogi, Edo, Cross River, Ebonyi, Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Anambra, Lagos, Delta, Ogun, Ondo, Bayelsa, Enugu, Abia, Oyo and Kwara State Commands, as well as Zone 17 Akure and the Police College, Ikeja.
The police document also directs the affected commands and formations to provide the exact number of officers requested for election duty.
The deployment is part of security preparations for the Osun State governorship election, as authorities intensify measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
