The Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media, describing it as an old recording deliberately recycled to create a false impression about his current political position.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Hamzat said the video was recorded on June 21, 2025, during the inauguration of his fan clubs in Ikire, Apomu, and Ikoyi, where representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), attended the event and made a donation to the fan club.

According to him, the event took place before Oyebamiji secured the APC governorship ticket and long before he joined the Accord Party, making attempts to portray the footage as reflecting his present political stance misleading.

Hamzat explained that his remarks at the event have been deliberately taken out of context by those seeking to promote a false political narrative.

"At the time of that event, AMBO had not secured the APC governorship ticket. In fact, I made my position clear during my speech when I said, 'Just go and get the ticket, then let's see how it goes.' That statement alone provides the context that those circulating the video have deliberately chosen to conceal," he stated.

The broadcaster-turned-politician described the circulation of the old footage as dishonest, insisting that it was intended to mislead the people of Osun State through selective editing and half-truths.

Reaffirming his current political position, Hamzat declared his support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming Osun governorship election, stating that he stands "in one Accord" with the governor and believes in his people-oriented administration.

He urged members of the public to disregard the viral video and resist attempts by political actors to distort facts for partisan gain.

Hamzat added that political engagement should be driven by truth, integrity, and respect for the intelligence of the electorate rather than the manipulation of old events to create misleading narratives.
