The Documents submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Senator Chukwu Kelvin Chizoba, representing Enugu East Senatorial District, have raised questions over apparent inconsistencies in his declared date of birth, educational history and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) records.

SaharaReporters, in a report published on Friday, August 7, 2026, said a review of documents submitted by the senator as part of his bid for re-election in the 2027 general elections revealed discrepancies that appear difficult to reconcile.

According to the report, Chizoba declared under oath that he was born on January 10, 1972.

However, the same documents reportedly show that he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1977. Based on the declared dates, this would mean he completed primary school at about five years of age.

The report also identified an apparent discrepancy involving his university education and NYSC records.

Chizoba reportedly declared that he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree on June 22, 2021.

However, an NYSC certificate attached to his INEC submission reportedly indicates that he participated in the mandatory national service programme from June 9, 1997, to June 8, 1998.

The dates contained in the documents therefore suggest that the senator completed NYSC approximately 23 years before the date he declared obtaining his LL.B degree.

The discrepancies have generated questions about the sequence of the senator’s educational and service records, particularly the timeline linking his primary education, university qualification and NYSC participation.

SaharaReporters said it contacted Senator Chizoba for clarification and asked him to explain the apparent inconsistencies in his sworn documents.

As of the time the report was published, however, the senator had reportedly not responded to requests for comment.
