Princess Alimot Osunbunmi, the 10-year-old Arugbá-Ọ̀ṣun, took centre stage at the 2026 Ọ̀ṣun-Òṣogbo Festival as she led the sacred procession to the Ọ̀ṣun Sacred Grove.
Carrying the sacred calabash, Princess Alimot performed the revered role that symbolises the hopes, prayers and collective aspirations of the people of Òṣogbo, while representing the enduring spiritual connection between Ọ̀ṣun and the community.
Her journey to the sacred grove reflected grace, tradition and cultural pride, as worshippers, residents, tourists and cultural enthusiasts gathered to witness the centuries-old tradition.
At just 10 years old, Princess Alimot’s participation also highlighted the continuity of the festival and the transmission of Yoruba cultural heritage from one generation to another.
The 2026 celebration once again showcased the rich cultural identity, spirituality and traditions associated with the internationally recognised Ọ̀ṣun-Òṣogbo Festival.
