Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, popularly known as Ajagunla, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing alleged breach of political agreements, lack of internal democracy, and loss of confidence in the party's leadership in Osun State.

The senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District formally notified the Senate of his defection in a resignation letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday, July 23, 2026. He stated that his resignation from the APC takes immediate effect.

Explaining the reasons behind his decision, Fadeyi said he joined the APC in July 2025 after receiving assurances that he would be granted the party's sole ticket to contest the 2027 Osun Central Senatorial seat.

However, the lawmaker said the agreement was not honoured, alleging that the APC primary election conducted in May 2026 was manipulated in favour of Barrister Kunle Adegoke (SAN), who eventually emerged as the party's candidate.

According to him, the primary lacked transparency and internal democracy, claiming the results were compiled and written in a hotel rather than at designated collation centres.

Fadeyi further stated that he had completely lost confidence in the leadership of the APC in Osun State, making his continued membership of the party impossible.

His return to the PDP is expected to reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly the contest for the Osun Central Senatorial seat.
