OSOGBO — The Osun State Police Command has reportedly arrested Waliyi Adejare, popularly known as Jay Jay, in connection with the death of Olalekan Oyeyemi, also known as Emir Ajagungbade.

Adejare was reportedly arrested on Thursday in the Oke Baale area of Osogbo and is said to be among the suspects being investigated over the killing.

Sources also identified Adejare as an associate of Nurudeen Alowonle, described as the factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State.

Ajagungbade Emir was shot dead on Sunday, September 13, 2026, by suspected hoodlums during a dispute reportedly linked to the control of a motor park in Ile-Ife.

Following the incident, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke directed the immediate arrest of everyone found to be involved in the killing.

The governor also ordered warring groups to vacate motor parks across the state and directed the reintroduction of the Park Management System as part of measures to restore order in the transport sector.

Adeleke gave the directives in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, following the killing, which allegedly arose from a dispute over the leadership of a motor park.

The governor directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that those responsible for the incident were arrested and prosecuted, stressing that there would be no sacred cows in the investigation.

He also appealed for calm among residents and directed security agencies to restore normalcy in affected motor parks while ensuring the maintenance of law and order.

Adeleke further announced plans to issue an Executive Order for the establishment of a Park Management System to oversee motor parks and garages across Osun State.

He said the measure was intended to restore discipline and orderliness in the state's motor parks.

The reported arrest of Adejare is expected to form part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ajagungbade Emir’s death. Police authorities are yet to publicly disclose the full details of the investigation or the specific allegations against the suspect.
