The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has made a fresh appointment, naming Aremo Adekunle Adegboyega Alao, popularly known as Lele, as the new Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The appointment takes effect from July 1, 2026, according to an official letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Osun State Government.

The letter, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, conveyed Governor Adeleke’s approval of Alao’s appointment and expressed confidence that his experience would contribute to the repositioning and improvement of basic education in the state.


Aremo Adekunle Alao was previously an aspirant for the Osun Central Senatorial District seat under the Accord Party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He contested the party’s senatorial primary, which was eventually won by Aare Abdulganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere.

His appointment comes following the resignation of Hon. Ibukun Fadipe, who previously served as the Executive Chairman of the Osun State SUBEB. Fadipe has since emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate for the Osun East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 election.


In his new capacity, Alao will be responsible for providing leadership for the state’s basic education system and overseeing the implementation of policies and programmes aimed at improving the quality of education across Osun State.

The Secretary to the State Government, in the appointment letter, congratulated Alao and expressed the expectation that his wealth of experience would help reposition the Universal Basic Education sector.

The appointment represents another administrative decision by Governor Adeleke as his administration continues to make changes within key government institutions following the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
