The Federal Government has unveiled seven herbal medicinal products developed by the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA) for the treatment and management of several major health conditions, including prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, peptic ulcer disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, and hepatitis B.

The herbal formulations, developed through research by the agency, are aimed at expanding access to locally produced healthcare solutions while promoting the use of Nigeria's indigenous medicinal resources.

According to the government, the newly introduced herbal medicines are designed to complement efforts to tackle the growing burden of non-communicable and infectious diseases across the country. The initiative also reflects the government's commitment to strengthening research, innovation, and the development of traditional medicine in line with global best practices.

Health authorities expressed optimism that the products would improve healthcare delivery, encourage local pharmaceutical production, and reduce dependence on imported medicines.

The unveiling marks a significant milestone in Nigeria's drive to harness its rich biodiversity and traditional medical knowledge to address pressing public health challenges.
