Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted a Toyota Sienna allegedly conveying cartons of suspected illicit drugs and military accoutrements in the state.

The incident occurred at about 4:50 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the Command’s Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Asaba.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operatives mounted surveillance along a route believed to be used by the vehicle, which was travelling from Onitsha towards Ondo State.

The police subsequently intercepted a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA. The vehicle was driven by Isaac Urji, 45, from Abia State, who was arrested.

A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of cartons of suspected Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs, military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.

The police said investigation has commenced to determine the source and intended destination of the recovered items, as well as identify other individuals who may be connected to the consignment.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, cultism and the proliferation of illegal firearms in the state.

He also urged residents to continue providing credible information to the police, assuring that such information would be treated confidentially
