The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged case of child pornography and sexual abuse involving a minor in Onitsha, the commercial hub of the state.

The arrest followed the circulation of a disturbing video allegedly showing a woman sexually abusing a minor with sex toys.

In a statement issued on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives acted on open-source intelligence linked to the viral video and subsequently arrested the suspect.

The police also rescued four children, aged two, three, six and nine years, respectively, during the operation. Sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were also recovered.

According to the command, Onyeanusia is currently in police custody as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other individuals were involved.

The suspect's husband is also being interrogated by the police to ascertain whether he had any connection with the alleged incident.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji, expressed concern over the alleged abuse, describing the exploitation of children as unacceptable, particularly given their vulnerability and inability to protect themselves.

He directed that the case be thoroughly and professionally investigated, while the rescued children are provided with appropriate care and protection.

The police said the welfare, safety, dignity and privacy of the rescued children remain a priority throughout the investigation and possible prosecution. The command added that it would collaborate with relevant child-protection and support agencies to provide counselling, care and other necessary assistance to aid their recovery.

The identities of the children will be protected, the police said, stressing that they would be treated with compassion and sensitivity throughout the process.

The command also commended vigilante operatives, bloggers and residents whose information reportedly assisted the police in identifying the suspect and rescuing the children.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police said further developments would be communicated as appropriate.
