Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, has announced a ₦30 million intervention to support a phone seller whose shop was reportedly looted. His candidacy for the constituency has been reported by multiple Nigerian news outlets.

Olajengbesi disclosed the intervention in a social media post after earlier appealing to members of the public to help identify and locate the businessman featured in a video showing the aftermath of the incident.

According to him, he has now spoken with the man and confirmed that he is the person featured in the story.

He added that the president of the phone sellers’ association also informed him that other traders had been robbed in a similar manner and suffered significant losses.

Olajengbesi said that after hearing the victim’s account, he reached out to some individuals he respects for assistance.

He disclosed that one individual, whom he described as “a great father,” subsequently sent ₦30 million to support the intervention.

However, the Accord candidate stressed that the money was not his personal funds and would not be given entirely to the affected businessman.

“A substantial part will be given to him, while the remaining will be used, at my discretion, to support other persons,” he said.

Olajengbesi also urged young business owners, particularly those dealing in valuable goods, to take security seriously.

He advised them to invest in measures including CCTV cameras, strong doors, burglary protection and other appropriate security systems to protect their businesses.

The politician further explained that the individual who provided the ₦30 million wished to remain anonymous and was not interested in receiving public appreciation for the gesture.

He therefore appealed to members of the public not to approach him seeking financial assistance from the donor, stressing that the funds were provided specifically to support the current intervention.

Olajengbesi thanked everyone who helped locate the businessman and those who contributed to the effort.
