OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — The Association of Minibus Drivers in Osogbo has announced a new transport fare regime across major routes in the Osun State capital, following the recent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).


The revised fares, contained in a price list issued by the Association of Korọ̀pẹ Drivers, take immediate effect and cover several routes linking major areas, markets, garages and communities across Osogbo.


Under the new fare regime, passengers travelling from Dagbolu 1 & 2 to Kobo will pay ₦300, while the fare from Dagbolu to Ota-Efun is ₦400. Trips from Ota-Efun to the Stadium and Testing Ground are listed at ₦300 and ₦500, respectively.

Other fares include ₦600 from Kobo to Old Garage, ₦400 from Ayetoro/Igbona to Ota-Efun, ₦400 from Ayetoro to Ogo-Oluwa, and ₦600 from Ayetoro/Igbona to Abere.


The list also puts the fare from Testing Ground to Ogo-Oluwa at ₦1,200, while passengers travelling from Kobo to Owode Ede are expected to pay ₦1,000. The fare from Ota-Efun to Owode Ede is listed as ₦800, while Stadium to Owode Ede costs ₦700.


For other routes, the fare from Oja-Oba to Osunjela is ₦500, while Alakija/OSBC to Oja-Oba is ₦400. Passengers travelling from Oja-Oba to Olaiya/Old Garage are expected to pay ₦300.


The second section of the price list also shows fares ranging from ₦300 to ₦1,000 on several routes, including Oja-Oba to Owode Garage (₦300), Old Garage, Olaiya/Okefia to Okinni (₦500) and Owode Ede to Bolante/Dele (₦1,000).

The drivers' association said the adjustment was necessitated by the rising cost of fuel and its impact on transportation operations.


The fare increase is expected to affect daily commuters who rely heavily on commercial minibuses to move between residential areas, markets, workplaces and surrounding communities.


Commuters have been advised to take note of the revised fares and make appropriate arrangements for their transportation needs.


Drivers, on their part, are expected to adhere to the listed fares and avoid imposing arbitrary charges on passengers.
