ONDO STATE, NIGERIA - The member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo, has distributed 4,500 bags of rice to constituents as part of efforts to cushion the economic challenges facing residents.


The distribution exercise was held at Teachers Hall, Okoga, Igbokoda, in the Ilaje Local Government Area of the state, with beneficiaries drawn from communities across the Ilaje and Ese-Odo federal constituency.


Ojogo said the rice was facilitated through the National Productivity Centre in Abuja, noting that the initiative was aimed at ensuring that opportunities and interventions available through federal institutions directly benefit the people he represents.


According to him, each political ward in the constituency received 100 bags of rice, while various associations and interest groups were also included in the distribution.


Beneficiaries comprised youth organisations, transport unions, artisans, religious leaders, traditional institutions, market women, persons living with disabilities and other community-based groups.


The event was chaired by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Kolade Akinjo, who previously represented the constituency.


Akinjo commended the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of concern for the welfare of constituents. He urged political representatives to continue supporting interventions that have a direct impact on the lives of the people.


Speaking at the event, Ojogo also appealed to his constituents to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, calling for the President's re-election in 2027.


The lawmaker said continued support for the administration would enable the people of Ondo State and Nigerians at large to benefit from ongoing federal programmes and interventions.


The distribution attracted political leaders, community representatives, youth and women groups, traditional and religious leaders, artisans and other stakeholders.


Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing the intervention as timely, particularly amid the economic pressures affecting households.
