The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has thrown its weight behind Senator Abdulaziz Yari, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute significantly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement comes as the ruling APC intensifies its mobilisation efforts and begins strengthening its political structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and former aspirant for the APC national chairmanship, has emerged as one of the prominent figures in the party’s preparations for the next presidential election.
The North-Central APC Forum said Yari’s political experience, grassroots connections and organisational capacity would be valuable in mobilising support for the Tinubu administration across the region.
The forum has previously expressed its determination to deliver a substantial percentage of North-Central votes to the APC presidential ticket in 2027. Its chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, had stated that the group was working with party leaders and stakeholders to secure between 80 and 90 per cent of the region’s votes for President Tinubu.
The North-Central region, comprising Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory, remains strategically important to the APC’s electoral calculations.
The forum has also maintained its support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, dismissing calls for a change in the vice-presidential slot ahead of the 2027 election.
With political activities gradually gathering momentum, the APC is expected to intensify grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder consultations and campaign planning across the country.
The forum’s latest position further highlights the importance the ruling party attaches to experienced political figures as it works towards retaining the presidency in 2027.
