KATSINA — The Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has unveiled the party’s “Reset Nigeria” agenda at the APM North-West Zonal Town Hall Meeting held in Katsina.

The town hall, which took place on Tuesday, September 22, brought together APM stakeholders, candidates and supporters from across the North-West as part of the party’s nationwide consultation and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde outlined four key areas of focus under the proposed agenda: economic productivity, education, security and socio-political reforms.

On the economy, the governor said Nigeria must become more productive and competitive by investing more in skills and knowledge while introducing policies that support economic activities around the clock.

He also proposed reforms in the education sector, including the use of reliable data and targeted interventions to tackle the problem of out-of-school children.

On security, Makinde said the government must address the root causes of insecurity rather than relying solely on enforcement measures. He also advocated the devolution of mining responsibilities to state governments while retaining federal regulatory oversight.

The governor further called for greater devolution of powers to the states as part of efforts to improve governance and service delivery. He also pledged to strictly uphold the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution if elected president.

Speaking at the event, APM Vice-Presidential Candidate, Lawal Musa Daura, identified insecurity and poverty as major challenges confronting the North-West.

Daura said the party would pursue measures aimed at reducing violence, addressing poverty and restoring normalcy across the region.

The Katsina meeting marks the first of the APM campaign organisation’s planned zonal town hall meetings across Nigeria. According to the campaign, the engagements will be issue-based and citizen-driven, with discussions focused on national stability, governance and citizens’ welfare.

Makinde also announced plans to return to other North-West states, including Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara and Jigawa, as part of a state-by-state campaign tour.
