IBADAN, OYO STATE - The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Abiodun Oluwaseun Friday, popularly known as Laurel, as the Chairman of the Oyo State Project Performance Monitoring Agency (OYSPPMA).


The appointment, which takes effect from Friday, September 18, 2026, was announced as part of a series of appointments and changes within the Oyo State Government.


Laurel, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Project Delivery, replaces Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, who has emerged as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).


Laurel’s Journey


Abiodun Oluwaseun Laurel’s leadership journey began at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, where he served as Students’ Union Government (SUG) President.


He subsequently joined the Makinde administration as Special Assistant on Project Delivery, before progressing to the position of Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Delivery. Among 36 officers of the End User Certificate in Nigeria, he was appointed by the Governor as the End User Certificate Officer for Oyo State.


His latest appointment as Chairman of OYSPPMA marks another step in his progression from student leadership to higher responsibilities in government.


His career journey can be summarised as:


SUG President → Special Assistant to the Governor - End User Certificate Officer for Oyo State→ Senior Special Assistant to the Governor → Chairman, OYSPPMA.


The Oyo State Project Performance Monitoring Agency is responsible for monitoring the implementation and performance of government projects across the state.


Governor Makinde congratulated the newly appointed officials and charged them to discharge their responsibilities with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the service of Oyo State.
