LAGOS - A Lagos man, identified as Idris Adenakan Damilare, has allegedly been accused of repeatedly beating a toddler at his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos State.


According to a report accompanying a video shared online on September 21, the man allegedly locked the child’s mother outside the residence before repeatedly striking the toddler. The mother reportedly recorded the incident because she was unable to intervene.


The post alleged that the man had been abusing the child since the toddler was less than one year old.


The video has triggered concerns among members of the public, with viewers calling for the suspect to be arrested and for stronger measures to protect children from abuse.


The report stated that the man is currently in police custody. However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain subject to investigation.


Lagos State’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has previously handled child abuse cases, including rescuing children and supporting prosecutions under the Child’s Rights Act.


The latest incident has renewed calls for swift intervention by relevant authorities to ensure the safety of children and hold alleged perpetrators accountable where investigations establish wrongdoing.
