OSOGBO — The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and individuals to security agencies amid reported threats of terrorist attacks on places of worship in the state.


Adeleke made the call in a statement issued on Sunday, urging residents to provide security agencies with timely intelligence on potential threats within their communities.


The governor particularly advised residents in border communities to be watchful for unusual influxes of unfamiliar persons and to report anything considered suspicious without delay.


“We must provide the police and other security agencies with intelligence reports on noticeable threats in our communities. As we are aware of alleged plots to attack our places of worship, we must become extra vigilant. Report anything unusual without any delay,” Adeleke said.


He commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for what he described as proactive measures to counter the reported threats, while directing other security agencies to review the situation and develop action plans to strengthen the protection of lives and property.


Adeleke also disclosed plans to convene a State Security Council meeting to assess the security situation and review the effectiveness of the state’s response plans.


He called on residents to exercise caution over people they accommodate in their communities and urged traditional rulers to convene meetings of their respective traditional councils to discuss the development.


“We must nip in the bud the evil plans of enemies of public peace,” the governor said.


Adeleke further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to post-election peacebuilding, stressing the need to strengthen security across the state to prevent terrorists and bandits from disrupting public peace.


The governor’s appeal followed reports of planned attacks targeting places of worship in Osun State, prompting calls for increased vigilance and closer cooperation between residents and security agencies.
