Nigeria’s electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) collected ₦205.53 billion in revenue in July 2026, while the value of electricity billed fell short of the energy received by ₦83.15 billion, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).


NERC disclosed this in its July 2026 Factsheet on the Financial Health and Efficiency of Distribution Companies, released on September 24, 2026.


The regulator reported that the DisCos received electricity worth ₦333.94 billion during the month but billed customers for electricity valued at ₦250.79 billion, representing a billing efficiency of 75.10 per cent.


Despite the billing shortfall, the DisCos recorded an 81.95 per cent collection efficiency, generating total revenue of ₦205.53 billion in July.


NERC further put the industry’s overall revenue recovery performance at 74.91 per cent during the month.


Among the distribution companies, Eko DisCo recorded the highest recovery efficiency at 94.67 per cent, followed by Port Harcourt DisCo with 84.95 per cent and Benin DisCo with 79.15 per cent.


The commission said the factsheet was released to provide stakeholders with information on the financial performance and efficiency of electricity distribution companies in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
