President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing former Zamfara State Governor and serving Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.


The composition of the council was announced on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Tinubu will serve as Chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairmen.


Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed Secretary, while APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.


The campaign council also includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as Deputy Directors-General. Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation, while James Abiodun Faleke will handle election planning, coordination and monitoring.


The council’s media and strategic communications directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media.


Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 election. He also directed the campaign team to showcase the achievements of his administration and communicate its message to voters across the country.


The constitution of the council marks a major step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, where Tinubu is seeking a second term in office.
